Also known as the “VB grenade”, this was an infantry weapon in use with the French Army from 1916 onwards. This type of grenade was launched from an attachment usually put on a rifle, and was cylindrical in shape, and made of cast iron.
By placing the rifle butt on the ground, These grenades could be launched upwards of 190 meters.
There were also alternative versions for sending a written message. This projectile emits colored smoke to help with its recovery.
